SUMBODAY BROKE INTO MAH HAUSE (room, to be exact)!!!

Was out on an adventure trip at Jeram Besu, Raub on Tuesday for 3 days. (For which the related post would be posted)

Today was the last day. While visiting a bean curd factory, mom SMS-ed. Said something happened to my room. I thought maybe some strong wind or storm ripped the windows away (coz i tot she was joking). The she said my room was broken into. I was like OMFG WTF!!! Thank god nothing was stolen.

It goes something like this:

Around 6PM Tuesday
Mom alone downstairs, everyone else out.
Heard noise. Mom thought was next door. (which was the noise the thieve made when punching a hole throught my ceiling >:(
Heard more noise. (Maybe thieve coming down thru the ceiling?) Started to panic. Opened door.
Opening lock made noise. Silence followed. (Maybe thieves realised ppl coming back into the house. Panicked, left)
Mom thought was probably next door.

Night. Returned home after goin out dinner wit dad.
Mom went upstairs. Thought about the noises.
Saw some debris (from ceiling) on the floor. The room door was partially closed.
Called dad. Checked room. Called police.
Mata-mata came and cleared the house and surrounding.
Mata-mata said thieve could've came thru neighbour's house. Unsecured.
Thieves removed tiles from the roof above my room and punched a hole thru the ceiling.

Nothing was stolen. Lappy was there. Savings was still there. Even the few bank notes i left on the table was untouched. Most likely amateur thieves. LOL. Mess in room though.

Reached home around 3.30pm today.

I think they thumped on the convection vents thingy.

Coz it was down. Beside it is the debris.

I think CSI didn't take the prints from the walls. Anyone interested?

Dust fell onto the rack I hang my clothes.

I shouted towards the ceiling when I first entered my room. LOL. Seems like we're getting a new alarm system.

A close shave

I've always thought that there's a design flaw in RapidKL busses. See they make U70 busses all disabled-friendly after some disabled society made some demonstrations. Fine with me. But they made ALL U70 disabled-friendly. WTF? Hey common, disabled-friendliness as a part of community service, ok, but you don't make all of the busses disabled-friendly at the expense of the comfort of abled passengers.

Abled passengers of U70 had to stand every single time they hop on to the bus if it happened that there weren't any seats left at the back of the bus. But not once in my life I've seen any disabled passenger on board the U70.

See, the flaw in the disabled-friendly U70 is that they have these 2 HUGE compartments of which the purpose is unknown to me at each side of the front portion of the bus. This makes the passage from the ticketing place to the standing area a bottleneck. That passage is narrow and hard to stand.

See, today some Indons (around 10 of them to be exact) came onto the bus. At the same time some lady hopped on as well. So since the ticketing process takes some time, it's normal for them to crowd around the driver to get the tickets. The problem is that these Indons block the way of the women. I bet the women thought that it blockage was only temporary but boy was she wrong!

So the lady wanted to proceed to the standing area. The Indons surrounded her and trap her within the passage. So the women got stuck in there, surrounded by well-built Indons. Out of a sudden we hear the women shout "itu kaki saya!!!" and then some noise. I saw the woman pointing to her wrist showing something was missing from there. I guess it's a watch or something. Then there's the 'saya tak buat apa apa pun', but obviously he's not doin anything coz he's only BLOCKING her way. It was along Jalan Klang Lama that time heading for Mid Valley. The other Indons seemed to be doin nothing but they were actually trying to shield the gang from intereference.

The ring ringed at the MV stop. The gang of Indons were trying to leave but the bus driver intuitively sped off, stranding the Indons in the bus. But the Indons have something up their sleves. They pressed the emergency release button to open the door and fled the scene. 2 Indons were left in the bus, i think they failed to escape at the first attempt. The bus was going damn fast. But while heading to the police station, there was a traffic light. So while the bus stopped, the remaining Indon managed to run away coz he was holding the door back.

The driver drove the bus to the police station so that the women could make a report. It's sad to know that nothing could be done to return justice to the lady. C'mon, the Indons fled the bus in a highway. They would most likely survive the escape, and the dispatched force wouldn't arrive in time to trace the Indons.

So let's review. If it hasn't been the bottleneck the 2 HUGE compartments have created, the incident would have been prevented. The women would easily went through to the back part of the bus. If it was a normal seated U70, the indons wouldn't have had enough space to surround someone to rob, and they wouldn't have a place to trap someone.

And immigrants. I doubt there're any form of respect from them to us. C'mon, the gov would be more tham willing to accept these people as citizens by giving them easy PRs and give equal rights to us normal citizens. The gov was behind them. Nothing you could do about it.

Stereotype? Geeze I used to have some respect for the foreign workers when I was working at the phone shop coz 70% of my customers were them. Now I would have to think a few tiems before trusting them again. Obviously I would be more wary when travelling alongside Indons.

Remember, when you see a BUNCH of Indons in the bus, be prepared to defend yourselves or other ppl. It's a sign.

RapidKL, for the sake of publicity (having disabled-friendly busses), have their passengers ride in fear.

Pics I hav not. Dude if I take pics the Indons would happily snatch it away from me on their way down the bus, not to mention beating me up along the way.

See, there's nothing we can do about the incident. There were around TEN indons, all well built (construction workers?). A few of us wack them, the TEN of them would wack us back. I hit one of them once, 10 of them would wack me once. Each one once, I'll kena 10 times for the one wack I gave them.

Bravo to the drive though. Friend said metro drivers wouldn't give a damn about it.

Toys

So recently there's this craze among the few of us in class about the Rubik's Cube. It started when a friend bought JayChiauChiau's album that came wit one. We all juz took it and played wit it la, turn here turn there. Then MF started bringing one to skool (i think was since quite some time ago) and played wit it. The few of us played wit it w/o being serious about solving it actually. Then another friend came and said he can colve it within 4 minutes. That's when the fun begins. That excitement of seeing him solving layer by layer, inching towards completion of the cube simply overflows the circle of us. Then it started the enquiring and stuff.

Yep. Toys. It's juz a toy, juz reaching 25 years old last year. But how often have we forgotten the toys that made up parts of our childhood. The first time i had a toy that had to do wit puzzles was a tetrahedral rubik's cube thingy from KFC. I was around 5 years old that time I think. You noe, kids, not understanding a thing about the puzzle. Twisting it around tryin to figure out wut it takes to do wut it does. I juz realised how come I never resorted to pulling out the stickers and sticking it back into order? LOL

Mine. Yes it's new and this is the best I can achieve. One edge away from completing F2L.

I remember there was a time when ProYo was a trend. Everyone had one. Bumblebee la, honey bee la, wutever bee la, Glow-In-The-Dark la. Everyone played wit it. You can make all sorts of trick wit it. 'UFO' la, 'slingshot' la, 'bicycle' la. It even came to a stage where yoyos wit metal ball bearings and lights emerged, only to be taken apart by me to get to the ball bearings. They are attracted to magnets! Back to yoyo. I remember yoyo as 2 red flat plastic hemispheres joined together in the middle attached to a string. All you could do was literally 'yoyo' it. Now the kind of yoyo you get don't 'yoyo' anymore. It 'walks the dog' or 'goes around the Earth'. And yes, it was the kind of yoyo that got me thru my Std 5 - Std 6 time.

This was the last one. I had so many yoyos that got lost that this was the last one my mom said she's buying me.

*I was supposed to get a picture of the Tamiya Audley cars I used to play wit but dang I think my mom threw them away. Or it got lost in the grave of time. It was afterall just white engine...*

There was also a time where remote controlled cars were a trend, at least among me and my cousins. We would play remote controlled car racing games on PlayStation (yes, they have'em) but nothing could compare to the ol' clicky sounds of clicking on the remote controls itself. We would race the cars in the house, outside, down the stairs etc. We were so crazy about it that my cousin was so close to buyin petrol fueled ones. We were still primary skool students that time.

RC-in-a-Can, anyone?

What I'm sayin is that toys have been part of our lives when we were young. How come that we almost never touch them again when we were at our age now? The last time I opened that can containing the RC was easily 5-6 years ago. How come we never even once mention about these toys ever again. All we do is talk about pointless stuff like DOTA, or Counter Strike, or pRawn and stuff like that.

How come these objects that walked us thru our childhood days were forgotten juz like that? They were our happy moments. Why were they eventually thrown to the back of our head as we move on wit our lives?

Yes I noe ppl grow up and move on wit time but then, how come objects like toys that were part of our happy memories were forgotten so easily?

Or is it that we keep finding new toys to repace old ones?

No I did not shake a cup and made that die tower.

Is it that we find the same fun we used to find in toys, in other stuff that weren't 'toys' but simply became our new 'toys'?

P/S: No I have yet to solve the Rubik's Cube, let alone timing it.
P/S 2: I think my new 'toy' is muh Waja. Yes I noe, 4-speed, but damn does it roar!

It feels so good!!!

It feels so good.

3 things.

First - Year end exams are officially over, unless MUET is considered an exam, then it'll be officially over this Saturday. But by then I would have celebrated for 3 whole days already.

Maths was at least also can do la. Thank god for tuition?
Chemistry was great, until I got the results. Damn should've worked harder.
Physics can la, again until I got to know the results. Damn...
PA? LOL teacher's not givin back paper till next year. Go figure.

Second - Lewis Hamilton is the 2008 F1 Champion! Qualifying was already a breath taker. The finale was a heart stopper. Hamilton took P2 at the end of qualifying, den suddenly got pushed way back to P5 by Raikonnen and Truli. Den on raceday everything was ok until the final lap. The penultimate lap to be the decider. As Sportscentre put it: "Massa Champion for 38 seconds".

Last but not least:

OBAMA ELECTED 44th PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATED OF AMERICA!!!

By definition a landslide would be 350 electoral votes. Obama got 338 electoral votes while McCain got 163 votes (from CNN). But BBC had it Obama 349 vs McCain 162. That's closer a landslide victory by definition. Anyway, OBAMA WON!

His first speech as President Obama:

Part 1:

Part 2:

And no victory speech is without a concession speech by the former-opponen

It shouldn't take us another 200+ years to get to the stage where racial barrier is no barrier. Right now that seems to be the case.
It shouldn't take a nation aspiring to be a developed nation by 2020 to take 200+ years to break the racial barrier.
It shouldn't take a united nation 200+ years to forgo old, outdated mindset in seek of change.
Change should come now, but not with a liar in (our) office.
He lied to us about ABC4, he lied about bamboo helicopter.
Now he lies about the stim package for underValueCap and bardjet 2009.

We don't need another liar to be in office. We don't need another racist in office.
We need change. And it shouldn't take us long before we achieve the same feat as great as what the Americans achieved today.

YES WE CAN!

2 double posts in a row! It's like 2 double kills!

From the Malaysian Insider:

Fatwa on yoga out soon

PENANG, Oct 29 - The National Fatwa Council will come out with a ruling relating to yoga exercise soon.

The announcement would be made by the council's chairman, Prof Datuk Dr Abdul Shukor Husin, said Deputy Director-General (Operations) of the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) Othman Mustapha.

He told reporters this after opening the two-day seminar on Islamic Jurisprudence and Eternal Islamic Thinking at Universiti Sains Malaysia jointly organised by the Islamic Studies Division of the university's Human Knowledge Study Centre and Jakim here today.Yesterday, lecturer Prof Zakaria Stapa of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia's Islamic Studies Centre advised Muslims who have taken up yoga to stop practising it for fear that it could deviate their belief. - Bernama

Ini ajaran sesat ni...

LOL. Our muslim friends' life juz got more restrictions added to their lives, in addition to their already full-of-restriction life.

Have fun!

"The Last Lecture"

Few months ago I wrote a post on the infamous talk by the late Randy Pausch titled 'Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams', commonly known as "The Last Lecture". Yup he died, but his legacies lived on.

The book version of it was out and got a copy of it. Basically it IS the lecture itself, but not in a presentation manner, more of a biography thing. It covers the contents of the lecture PLUS some extra stories and tales that pretty much completed the story of Prof Randy Pausch.

He made sure the lecture was recorded so that his children will have an idea of who their father was and what kind of a person he was. The book enhances the narration to his kids but also gives the rest of us of the little anecdotes of how to live your life. Of coz the lecture is titles "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams" but it's full of 'head fakes', things you learn after you've learnt what you were to learn, or indirect learning.

I'm a bad reviewer, esp media. So like, yea the book's a nice read, 200+ pages long. Finished it in 2 days.

I can't believe I juz admitted that. The slow reading PLUS the exams coming. Gosh where did I find time to read a book? Nope, I juz used time that was supposed to be used to revise physics and chemistry to read the book.

DAMN...

P/S: Wow I'm now an average citizen of the country! I've read 2 books now!

Arctic Ice Thickness "plummets"

Quote from BBC NEWS Science
---------

Arctic ice thickness 'plummets'

By Mark Kinver
Science and environment reporter, BBC News

Arctic sea ice
The data proves that overall volume of sea ice is decreasing, say researchers

The thickness of Arctic sea ice "plummeted" last winter, thinning by as much as 49 centimetres (1.6ft) in some regions, satellite data has revealed.

A study by UK researchers showed that the ice thickness had been fairly constant for the previous five winters.

The team from University College London added that the results provided the first definitive proof that the overall volume of Arctic ice was decreasing.

...
Sea ice in the Arctic shrank to its smallest size on record in September 2007, when it extended across an area of just 4.13 million sq km (1.59 million sq miles), beating the previous record low of 5.32 million sq km, measured in 2005.
...
"I think this is the first time that we can definitively say that the bulk overall volume of ice has decreased," observed Dr Laxon.

"So this means melting; it doesn't mean that the ice has just been pushed up against the coastline."
...

"The time when Arctic sea ice is going to disappear is open to a lot of debate," he said.

"About five years ago, the average projection for the sea ice disappearing was about 2080.

"But the ice minimums, and this evidence of melting, suggests that we should favour the models that suggest the sea ice will disappear by 2030-2040, but there is still a lot of uncertainty."

Need I say more?

Before I forget...

Snapped some pics categorized as "miscellaneous". Gotta post 'em before they disappear into the holy grave of deleted stuff.

This is the speed limit for the road inside PBP(1). Quite logic coz I thought that the road was appropriate to be converted into a go-kart circuit.

Look underneath your tables before you touch it. This lecture-chair (or whatever you call it, with a movable 'table' attached to it) was full of fckin chewing gums. Yes, a few of them obviously were there for quite a long time already.

Saw this spider in the toilet one day. I've seen bigger ones in the house but those run away damn fast. This one was sleeping I guess, got a lot of close shots of it.

Would a Thai capture it and fry it? Makes a good snack i guess.

A tribute to the memory cards slot at the side of the laptop. Was so much more convenient that hooking up the phone wit a cable and transferring stuff. Slow... This one connects the card like any other USB device and transfers at USB 2.0 speed!

Adios.

Juz another day in the business

Today marked the end of part one of the year-end exams. Hell yea thank god for tuition (yes I'm being proud of it) or else i would've failed this maths paper. Celebration? Not yet... Part two to come after deepvali holidays... Are we the only sixth formers to still be in the exams?

Today's news (not exactly today, but, anyway...)

Semi Value receives a... Doctor of Letters? WTF is a Doctor of Letters?

Wiki:

Doctor of Letters (Latin: Litterarum doctor; D.Litt.; or Litt. D.) is a university academic degree.

In the United Kingdom, Australia, India and certain other countries, the degree is a higher doctorate, above the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), and is issued on the basis of a long record of research and publication. The degree D.Litt. is awarded to candidates whose record of published work and research shows conspicuous ability and originality and constitutes a distinguished and sustained achievement. University committee and board approval is required, and candidates must provide documented mastery of a particular area or field.

(As you can see it's copy and paste)

So... D.Litt? Higher than Ph.D? Long record of published work? Achievement? Even board approval required?

Whatever university that gave Semi Value this thing, muz be out of their mind... Unless SV does get it thru some research, which I think is highly impossible coz he's "busy protecting the rights of the Indians".

Next:

This is on page 3 of the national paper, which is juz one page flip after the headlines on the frontpage.

WTF? WHO THE HELL CARES? WHO THE HELL FCKIN CARES WHETHER MAWI IS GETTIN MARRIED OR NOT?? WHY IS THE PAPERS GIVING HIM THIS KIND OF PUBLICITY? IS THAT OF NATIONAL CONCERN? THE STOCK MARKETS IS OF LESS IMPORTANCE THAN THIS BULLSHIT?

DAMN I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS SAME GUY GOT A TIME SLOT ON TV ON HIS PREVIOUS RELATIONSHIP. SOME BULLSHIT KIND OF SHIT. "Three Wedding Receptions". WHO THE HELL FCKIN CARES????????????

AND YES, I LEFT IT ON CAPS ON PURPOSE.

On to other stuff:

So now 'tomboyism' is haram under Islamic law. Err... Are we the only country to make this kind of announcement? Girls, thou shoult wear skimpy clothes as thou are meant to look sexy in public. Oh no. That's revealing aurat it seems.

I tell you. Women rights groups will protest this strongly as they are being supressed under this law that practices discriminative restrictions. Why can't they wear like dudes? What now they are controlling what girls can and cannot wear now, huh? This is SEXISM!!! WOMEN WANT EQUAL RIGHTS!!!!

That being said, I think it's good that girls remain as girls so girls don't get to take girls away from guys. You noe like lesbian kind of taking girls away from guys. And also it kind of replenishes the eye candies to the streets. Sheesh can't differentiate b/w guys or girls nowadays in KL. I can show you 10 individuals that you cannot identify the gender of in KL, anytime on the streets of KL. Girls, dress (in)decently, please.

EDIT: Aiks, I forgot, it only applies to our muslim friends. Looks like lala-ism is to stay for a looonnngggg time....

Next:

So like, we're still in 132nd in terms of press freedom? Let me tell you what strawberry cheek thinks: WOW!!!! UP BY 10 PLACES!!! THAT'S BETTER THAN THE FOOTBALL TEAM!!! THAT"S A FCKIN ACHIEVEMENT!!! WHOEVER SAYS THAT THERE"S NO PRESS FREEDOM SHOULD BE SHOT DEAD!!! WOOOHOO!!

Yes, that's how our politicians feel when there's the slightest improvement in any aspect of the country globally. See they say the same thing when UM improved its rankings in this year's THES-QS survey. THEY ARE FCKIN HAPPY. Too bad it still impossible to spot the university in the frontpage of the official report.

Erm... There's 160 countries in the survey and we're 132? Like HW said, we're in the FORTH QUADRANT? That's like forth-world country, not even third-world.

The next time ppl say we have third-world press freedom, correct them. We have forth-world press freedom.

EDIT: I dun get it, from 1 to 160, how is the ranking arranged? 1 the best or 160 the best? Is up 1, or up 160? So up by 10 is better ranking by 10? or rank number increased by 10, therefore a worse ranking? Anyway, the press freedom is still bad.

EDIT 2: OMG even war-laden Timor Leste is better than us, at 65!

Think about this: when we started off, India, China and even Korea is behind us in terms of development. Now China hosted a briliant Summer Olympics and even sent a man to walk in space, in a suit MADE IN CHINA! India juz sent an unmanned spacecraft to the MOON. Korea, they are lightyears in front of us in terms of technology. They have the fastest and cheapest broadband, unlike what our Comm Minister used to claim that we had the cheapest. So, where were we? Still struggling wit an incompetent gov, that is.

On to happier stuff:

AirAsia is offering to pay you RM200 if your flight gets delayed more than 2 hours. Yes, when your flight gets delayed, they pay you to wait. Cool huh?

Except that, if it's due to an Act of God, yer out of luck.Better luck next time, pious devotee!

Last but not least:

The stock market. That's the numbers at 3.48pm this evening. Yup, red all the way. Red like it's chinese new year. Except it's Ang Pau kind of red, ie money going out kind of red.

The 10 most active stocks were all negatives. My mom was ranting about the recent 'mini-bailout' of our own announced by the DPM. Says wut's the use of the money poured into the market coz it's still negative.

I say, the announcement is actually a catalyst to the downward spiral of the stock market. Previously the market is based on global trend, and was goin up and down. See, the DPM said previously that our market is good and strong and not in recession. Then he announces a 'bailout plan' to rescue undervalued stocks. WTF? Why would you need to bailout stocks when the market is strong? Are you bullshitting? Or shitting bull? YOU ANNOUNCE A BAILOUT, MEANS THAT THE STOCKS ARE IN TROUBLE!!! WHAT WOULD INVESTORS THINK WHEN YOU SAY THAT? THEY THROW STOCKS AND FLEE!!! IDIOT!!!

Strike one.

Then the Eurocopter thingy. Who on earth would buy the most expensive version of the same thing? And it's not an easy choice, the difference from the cheapest to the most expensive is in the range of Billions (ok to be fair, JUST a few billion, maybe 1 or 2, in RM), yes wit a capital B. He has yet to give a suitable explanation. Until then, he's accused of bribery, along wit the submarine shit. Report here. Evidence letter.

EDIT 4: Oops, I think sleeping beauty is more involved in the bribery involved in the eurocopter case than DPM. Maybe they planned it together!!!

Strike 2.

Then the 2009 budget. Dude our profits are based on an oil price of $135. Now it's barely $70. Don't you think that an urgent review is needed? No the budget is well planned you say. BUT HELL! PROFIT DIFFERENCE IS 2X!!! WTF YER TALKIN ABOUT THAT'S WELL PLANNED?

Strike 3, YER OUT!!!!

That is easier than pitching in the World Series.
